Mommy's Scare

What a morning last Friday. Emmett had gotten up early so we were getting few things done around the house when I realize that he is really quiet. As that is usually a bad sign, I went to check on him to find him playing with daddy's deodorant container. I didn't think too much about it until I realized he had white stuff around his mouth. Oh goodness! He's eaten his daddy's deodorant!! I quick checked the container and of course it said take him to the ER or call poison control.

Problem: I don't know where the ER is. Never had to go up to this point.

So I called Matthew and no answer. We then called poor Aunty Laura at 6:30 in the morning!!!! She graciously gave us directions and offered to call poison control while we rushed to the ER.

We weren't even half way there when she called back.... Emmett should be fine. Wash out his mouth, he'll probably throw up, nothing to really worry about.

Phew.

We went home. He didn't really throw up anymore than normal. He acted fine the whole day. I was thankful for this and that we didn't have to go to the ER in our pjs and wild morning hair.

Thank you Jesus! And Aunty Laura for you help :)

Just another day around the Lindy household :)

Wedding Trip

We traveled to see the family last week and to be there for Caleb and Roses' Wedding! We had a wonderful time and though it was NOT long enough, we were able to leave with smiles on our faces knowing that most of the family would be up in a week (Lord willing!). Here's some of the photos from the trip.

Our plane was delayed 2 hours!! Emmett had plenty of time to explore.

Mom and Dad.... still in love :)

Caleb and his sisters :)

Matthew and Zoie!

Gasp! Grandpa got Emmett to sit for a book!!!! AMAZING!!!

Sorry for the poor picture quality. We didn't take our nice camera and I believe Emmett has gotten hold of this one and pressed some buttons. Hopefully I can get some better photos from the wedding and post later on.

Yeah for Ikea!

Emmett loves the Ikea toy section! Not for the toys but for this thing. He could have played all day long!!!

New Tricks

Thanks to Emmett's height he can now reach my parents' refrigerator water dispenser-- much to his excitement. I don't see any harm in playing with the water so he has a ball. We did learn the hard way though that he has to wear socks or he easily ends up on the slippery floor in a not so graceful fashion. Sorry about the sideway videos.... something with the camera phone.

Da at the Park

This video is from March but I love it. Emmett had recently started saying (well, I think he was saying) 'Dad'. Kind of. Anywho, we were at an outdoor waterpark/playground and he was expressing to everyone, very loudly, who he wanted :O)

Playground

We have a playground next to our apts. and while most of the stuff is too big for him to play on at this point, he loves the mulch. It's probably more fun than the slides and climby things combined for him... now if I can just make sure he doesn't eat any of it!

Stickers

After a morning of fun, Emmett is slowly figuring out what stickers are for!!!!

Grandpa Time!!

Grandpa had to be in the area for work so we all got to go out to eat with him and spend a little time! We were so excited and the two kiddos (for not seeing him much) took right to grandpa. Emmett was exceptionally good on grandpa's lap (and I don't think it was just the food :) .

When we took grandpa back to our place to show him around, Emmett gladly gave grandpa several of his toys for safe-keeping including: a horse, a sheep, 2 pickups, and his bright green ball! Grandpa rates VERY high as you can tell by this list!!!!

Mommy's Big Helper

I had some fabulous help making dinner the other night. We like to get pizza dough from Trader Joe's from time to time to make some yummy pizzas! Emmett has been insistent on standing on a chair and helping with meals recently. Here he is helping me get the pizza dough ready to top. (For the topping part however, he was in his chair being the official taste tester!)

Zoie Visits

We had the honor of having Zoie over one day last week. The kids had a fabulous time with the bubbles. I can honestly say that the bubble machine was one of our BEST investments!

We also went for a walk and got some very yummy ice cream! There was a mixup at the ice cream place and they were given cheese cake instead of birthday cake ice cream but from the smiles they didn't care in the least!

April Review

I rarely take the time to sit down and take photos off my camera so here's a review of end of March/all of April. We've had a busy couple of months and with upcoming weddings and traveling in the mix, I doubt it will slow down much. When it involves family and friends we're all for it though :O) and we should have plenty to post about in the month of May!

Emmett and grandpa eating lunch together. Grandma let him see her lawn mowing 'headphones'.

We kept Zoie one day in April and it was such a nice day we had to go outside. We walked over and got some ice cream from Coldstone. Zoie ate hers all nice and neat. Emmett's coat needed to be washed when he was done :) but I think both equally enjoyed their ice cream!!

When those random nice days come you HAVE to take advantage of it. Here Emmett is working with the chalk on the sidewalk. Unfortunately we found out it was against our lease agreement and we had to wash it off but it was a fun afternoon regardless.

There was one weekend in March/April that both Mark and Laura and Popeye and I didn't have anything planned so we planned something! We went to Medieval Times, a dinner show in the area. I was a little worried because of Emmett and his active nature but he LOVED it! He was standing up most of the time watching the horses and the bird. Phew! We thoroughly enjoyed it too :)

Saturday Activities

So even though I'm against doing the whole bunny/egg thing this time of year instead of keeping the focus on our Lord and Savior's sacrifice for us, the town where I grew up had a small egg hunt on Saturday afternoon. We borrowed a basket from 'grandma' and went up to find some eggs filled with yummy candy.

Funny enough, while Emmett did pretty good at finding them and then letting me put them in the basket (even if he tried to take other kids' eggs right out of their baskets :O) his favorite part of the whole 15 minute event was playing with the box of discarded plastic eggs. By far, his fav!

Oh, I love little boys! He didn't mind one bit that there was candy 'in them there eggs' either ;o) Upon that discovery, we had to watch so he didn't shove the candy in wrapper and all!

And the 2nd Place Winner Is.....

Remember the coloring contest Emmett entered (see picture entry on previous post), well he won 2nd place. To funny. He was supposed to go up Saturday and get his picture taken with the other winners but we were out of town so we went up today to get his prize-- a very soft, very cute stuffed bunny that Emmett loves to squeeze to death and throw on the ground. Here's to the start of lots of fun coloring contests :O)

New Words

I'm not 100% Em ever really said those typical first words of 'ma' or 'da'... at least said them and knew what they meant but his vocabulary is growing slowly recently.

He of course knows 'yeah, yeah, yeah' and 'no, no, no' when had needs to use them (and usually properly). He understands when I say 'look', now. When I say ask him if he's 'ready to go?" he usually goes to the door and tries to open it.

New words are 'pizza, pizza!' (though it applies to all foods, not just pizza) as well as
'Ke Cat' (which applies to all animals, not just the kitty cat). He picked the 'kitty cat' words up at my parents house because my mom was calling them over so he could pet them. Now, whenever he says the words he sticks his hand out and tries to snap his fingers to get those silly kitty cats to come over to him! Oh to cute. He's such a little imitator :O)

Learning to Drive the Lawnmower

While we were at my parents house, grandpa took Emmett for a ride in the lawnmower. He said on the back side of the shed, Em actually pushed the grasshopper handles himself for a little while. When he came back around to see us though he was all waves.... such big stuff!!

Little Button Pusher

Emmett and Z. have been going to story time at the library where we found out about their love for bubbles! I picked one up for Emmett has a summer toy last week and we turned it on to see what he'd do without lots of other little kids around. Sadly, his love for buttons is a downfall in the bubble play but if I know Emmett, its probably just as much fun to push the button!!

Who Does He Resemble????

Now that Emmett's a year old, we're asking the 'Who Does Em Resemble?" question. What do you think???

Emmett's Coloring Contest Submission

The local grocery store is having a coloring contest 'drawing'. Emmett worked on his submission this morning. I think we're good enough to go submit it this afternoon!!!

Communication

Emmett has been communicating more and more these days but NOT always verbally. Despite having spoken any recognizable words yet, he has a very definite way of getting his desires across to his mommy......

The other morning I was laying in bed trying to get just a few more minutes of sleep while Emmett roamed the house playing (yes, a bad idea I know), when all of a sudden he's right beside the bed and I feel something hit my hand. I get hit again. I roll over to find an unopened box of Raisenets (Emmett's new favorite 'dessert') on the bed. Anyone else think he's hungry???

Today I was trying to sort through Emmett's shoes and clothes as our seasons are wonderfully transitioning. Emmett found his new pair of sandals in the drawer. He put them on my lap and stuck his foot on top of them indicating that it was time for him to try them on!!!

And as if we don't feed him enough, he has now discovered where the snacks are kept when we are out. I found him in the kitchen with a bag of whale crackers that he had gotten out of the side pocket of the diaper bag. Unfortunately these were already open and half were already on the floor... that didn't stop him from eating them though!!

Any of you who know him know that he's not all nonverbal communication. This morning he had his singing cell phone out and was yelling into it (something very serious must have been happening) as he pivoted in circles. Pivoting is his new thing and often he will go in a circle for no apparent reason. I believe he did about 3 or 4 circles this morning in his excited conversation with the singing phone :O)
