We recently received a copy of
101 Color and Sing Bible Stories by Stephen Elkins from Tyndale Kids Publishing. I was asked to honestly review the book in exchange for a copy of the book.
The book a hardback book with 101 Bible stories and include 2 discs. For each story there is a read-a-long section with scripture from the story as well as a sing-a-long section with words from the related song (that is on an included disc in its entirety) and an example of the coloring page that you can print (also on a disc). On the opposite page is the full color version of the coloring page for the kids to look at.
This is a cute book with simple pictures and a fun song for each story. My kids enjoyed the songs while they colored the pictures that I printed out from the discs. I liked that you could print out as many pages as you wanted from the discs without having to pay for multiple books and you could listen to the songs as many times as you wanted with each story. The little lesson that went with each scripture was cute and tried to
bring the scripture to life with examples. However, I felt like the
book was better suited for a Sunday School setting as a supplement than
home use. It didn't take long for my kids to be done and personally I would not put the cd in often as the recording wasn't as enjoyable for me as it was my kids.
While I liked the book and what it was trying to accomplish, I felt it was geared more toward Sunday School teachers. The lessons were short and sweet. I probably wouldn't recommend this book to my friends for their home library but would consider using it on Sundays should I have that opportunity for 4-5 year olds.
