Emmett's Coloring Contest Submission

The local grocery store is having a coloring contest 'drawing'. Emmett worked on his submission this morning. I think we're good enough to go submit it this afternoon!!!

Communication

Emmett has been communicating more and more these days but NOT always verbally. Despite having spoken any recognizable words yet, he has a very definite way of getting his desires across to his mommy......

The other morning I was laying in bed trying to get just a few more minutes of sleep while Emmett roamed the house playing (yes, a bad idea I know), when all of a sudden he's right beside the bed and I feel something hit my hand. I get hit again. I roll over to find an unopened box of Raisenets (Emmett's new favorite 'dessert') on the bed. Anyone else think he's hungry???

Today I was trying to sort through Emmett's shoes and clothes as our seasons are wonderfully transitioning. Emmett found his new pair of sandals in the drawer. He put them on my lap and stuck his foot on top of them indicating that it was time for him to try them on!!!

And as if we don't feed him enough, he has now discovered where the snacks are kept when we are out. I found him in the kitchen with a bag of whale crackers that he had gotten out of the side pocket of the diaper bag. Unfortunately these were already open and half were already on the floor... that didn't stop him from eating them though!!

Any of you who know him know that he's not all nonverbal communication. This morning he had his singing cell phone out and was yelling into it (something very serious must have been happening) as he pivoted in circles. Pivoting is his new thing and often he will go in a circle for no apparent reason. I believe he did about 3 or 4 circles this morning in his excited conversation with the singing phone :O)

Birthday Bash!!

Here's pictures from his birthday. It was wonderful and if presents are indication of love, he's smothered in it!!!!

Popeye trying on Em the rain boots from Auntie Regenna !! He LOVES these things!!

STEP ONE: test out the cake, figure out that it is yummy!!!

STEP TWO: make a very big mess eating such a yummy cake!!

STEP THREE: Get cleaned up from such a big mess. Squeekie clean!

Oh Emmett!!! I'm so excited he's turning one and yet I slightly lament the fact that he's getting so big so fast. Recently, though, it seems like every stage he's in is my favorite... like now. I LOVE this stage.
He carries things around the house (even heavy things like his father's Size 13 work boots!) and his so proud of himself for doing it!!
He is such a food begger.... can't even eat a cookie anymore without a little whine from 30 some inches off the floor declaring his need for some too :O)
And he's such a talker. Not that he wasn't before but now he REALLY wants to tell you something... oh if only those words would work right!!!
He plays games... such as today. I hid underneath the blanket and he came up and peaked under there. When he saw me he laughed and stuck his hand under like he was going to get/or tickle me. He knew he was being so big.
And lastly, he's such a BIG flirt!!! Oh, I say he's friendly but I can be having the WORST time going through the store with him. I mean he's trying to climb out of the cart, he's whining because he's bored, he's pulling things off shelves, and eventually there's a scream involved but we go through that check out line and he's flirting with that lady (whether she's smiling or not) and he's waving his little hand and talking to her in the friendliest fashion. He's got them hooked. He had two young girls at the Hobby Lobby checkout line the other day giggling... seriously giggling at him and making over him. ohhhh boy. Are mom's allowed to stand at the door with a shotgun as their boys get bigger????

Till next time.

GA Trip

So I'm finally posting pictures from our GA trip!!! It was soooo good to see the family again and we were sad to leave! We also got to see so many of our friends while there. Unfortunately that flu bug hit in the middle and we had to cut some of our plans so we didn't share with others but we enjoyed every minute of our trip!!

Em was such a good traveler! There were kids both flights there and they got along famously together!!!

Here's us hanging out after dinner. Us girls made that very fun cake... trying out fondant, which isn't as easy to use as the shows let on!!

Em and his pal Luke. Actually, I kind of doubt they remember each other. They were pretty shy but they look so grown up!!! It's amazing how a few months and they change!!!

Grandpa and Cara!! We had to get the picture since Cara is a little Lindy men shy. She's so cute though in her little pjs and Grandpa loved getting to hold her!

Grandpa, Aunty Rach, and Em out on the tractor. I thought Em would be scared but he loved it. He just waved at me as they passed by!!! What a big boy moment!!

Daddy and Em acting so serious!! Can you tell they're father and son or what!!! NOW we know where Em gets these looks from!! Such a stinker!
